Maybank Berhad has announced that the Maybank2u MY app will officially shut down on 28 August, with users being encouraged to switch to the MAE app

In a statement last Friday, 2 August, Maybank said the MAE app will become the sole platform on mobile phones for users to access the bank's services.

The country's largest bank stated that all features will stop working on the Maybank2u MY app after the deadline.

However, they assured users that the MAE app offers the same functions along with additional services.

The MAE app also offers enhanced security via Secure2u to authorise transactions.

The discontinuation of services only applies to the Maybank2u MY app, while the desktop website of Maybank2u will remain operational.

Launched in March 2019, the MAE app is the bank's first product that allows users to open a bank account on their mobile phone

The app name, MAE, is an acronym for Maybank, Anytime, Everyone.

The app was initially designed to meet the growing demand for e-wallets. Over the years, new features were constantly added to make it the bank's full-fledged banking app.

To learn how to set up the MAE app and activate the Secure2u feature, visit the FAQ section on the bank's website.
