Xiaomi is bringing in the heat with their latest gaming monitor: the Xiaomi Mini LED Gaming Monitor G Pro 27i

Gaming monitors are commonly characterised by its crisp, sharp images, high refresh rates, fast response times, and more. That's why gamers are very particular when it comes to monitors.

Xiaomi's latest gaming monitor seems to have ticked all the boxes, and SAYS was very fortunate to check out what the display had to offer.

The Xiaomi G Pro 27i is a 27-inch gaming monitor with a sharp 1440p resolution, which is a great match for its size. Its gamer-inspired design features a white stand and rear panel.

While its 180Hz refresh rate may not be the absolute best for competitive gaming, it's still incredibly smooth and a noticeable upgrade from 144Hz monitors. The monitor also supports AMD FreeSync and Nvidia G-Sync, which help eliminate screen tearing and stuttering for a more enjoyable gaming experience.

It has two HDMI 2.0 ports, two DisplayPort 1.4 ports, and a headphone jack. There's no USB-C port or built-in USB hub, which is a bit disappointing for a high-performance monitor. This means you won't be able to easily connect peripherals or flash drives directly to the monitor.

The V-shaped base also takes up a lot of real estate on your desk. So, if you have a small or crammed desk, consider investing in a monitor arm. The base requires four Phillips screws to secure, which is weird since thumbscrews are more common these days. That said, it does provide a stable base for the monitor.

The stand offers a decent range of adjustments, including height, tilt, rotation, and even the ability to pivot into portrait mode.

While the "MiniLED" branding on the side might be a bit much for some, the overall design coupled with the white stand and monitor back is quite sleek.

The G27i uses an in-plane switching (IPS) panel which is known for vibrant colours and wide viewing angles

While IPS panels sometimes have slower response times, this monitor boasts a 1ms response time, meaning you won't see any blurring or ghosting during fast-paced games such as VALORANT or Marvel Rivals.

It also avoids common IPS issues like backlight bleed and low contrast, making it a solid choice for gamers and everyday users alike.

The Xiaomi G Pro 27i stands out with its impressive display technology. Instead of using a typical edge-lit backlight, it utilises mini-LED technology. This means it has a large number of tiny LEDs behind the screen, allowing for much greater brightness and contrast compared to other monitors in its price range.

Mini-LED technology used to be very expensive, but recent advancements have made it more affordable. This makes the Xiaomi G Pro 27i one of the best and more affordable mini-LED monitors currently available, especially for those looking for a high-quality display.

This means that the monitor can display very bright colours with full contrast. Combined with its local dimming zones, it delivers a truly immersive high-dynamic range experience that's fantastic for both gaming and watching videos.

And unlike some other high-end displays, there's no risk of burn-in or issues with text clarity, making it a great choice for productivity and ensuring a long lifespan.

For professionals, the G27i comes colour-calibrated straight from the factory

So, designers and professionals no longer have to spend precious time tuning the screen for accurate colour representation.

However, if you want extremely precise colours for professional tasks, you can calibrate the monitor to match your needs. But for most gamers, the colours will likely be acceptable out of the box or with minor adjustments using the monitor's built-in settings.

With local dimming enabled, the blacks are incredibly deep, rivaling those of OLED screens. The bright areas and highlights really pop, creating a vibrant and dynamic picture. Local dimming means higher contrasts. Imagine the backlight of a screen as a grid of tiny light bulbs. In a traditional screen, all these "bulbs" are either on or off together.

Because it's an LED monitor, it can achieve high brightness even in standard mode, resulting in a consistently rich and punchy image. In fact, it can get so bright that it might even be uncomfortable if you forget to turn it down after a gaming session. Thankfully, the monitor comes with the brightness lowered out of the box to prevent this.

The Xiaomi Mini LED Gaming Monitor G Pro 27i is now available for purchase

The Xiaomi Mini LED G Pro 27i gaming monitor stands as the premium offering in the Xiaomi monitor lineup. It's perfect for gamers looking for a monitor with substantial features and size. It even fits the needs for professionals looking for a colour-accurate display.

The G Pro 27i is currently priced at RM1,549, and can be purchased from the official Xiaomi online store.
