If you're looking for a dashcam, but use an Android phone, it may be worth your while to wait for this new Android update.

According to 9TO5Google, an upcoming Android update will allow Pixel phones and selected Android devices to function as a dashcam. As the name implies, the feature can record video and audio while you're driving.

It would be better to have a car mount installed at an appropriate location, so the recording can provide helpful information and necessary evidence in the event of an unexpected situations such as accidents.

The feature can be accessed through a new 'Dashcam' prompt in the "Personal Safety" section on the home page of selected Android devices

It also appears that Google has built this feature with convenience in mind, as you will be able to launch the dashcam feature automatically when you connect to your car's Bluetooth system, whether it's the stereo or infotainment system. It also ends automatically when you disconnect at the end of your journey.

Finally, to save on storage, the recordings of the dashcam feature will be deleted automatically after three days unless you choose to save them beforehand.

Sounds pretty neat, right? Let us know what you think of this feature!
