A routine ride to work turned violent when a motorcyclist was allegedly slashed with a meat cleaver after honking at another rider who was blocking his path along the Federal Highway in Shah Alam
The shocking incident, which unfolded during the morning commute at about 7am yesterday, 11 June, left the 45-year-old victim with slash wounds to his head, neck, and both hands.
According to Shah Alam police chief ACP Sarudin Samah, preliminary investigations found that the victim was travelling to work via the motorcycle lane in Section 13 when he encountered another motorcycle obstructing the route ahead.
After the victim sounded his horn to alert the rider, the suspect allegedly became enraged.
"The 43-year-old suspect then stopped his motorcycle and slashed the victim with a cleaver," Bernama quoted Sarudin as saying.
The victim was rushed to Shah Alam Hospital for treatment and is currently in stable condition.
The suspect has since been arrested, and investigations are ongoing
The case is being probed under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means.
Photos and videos of the attack have since circulated widely online, showing the victim lying on the road while the suspect stands over him holding what appears to be a cleaver in his left hand.
The incident has sparked concern over escalating road rage cases, particularly in motorcycle lanes where riders often travel in close proximity during peak traffic hours.
