No One's Touching Anyone At Taeyang's KL Concert... Or Maybe Any K-Pop Concert Ever
Will this mean the end of fan service and interaction with the idols for Malaysian K-pop fans?
The uproar over South Korean band B1A4 hugging their female Muslim fans last month seems to have set an unfortunate precedent for future concerts involving K-pop artistes in Malaysia
In January 2015, B1A4 performed before audiences in Malaysia. During their concert, the group interacted with several young Muslim women who were wearing their religious headdress. This interaction involved fan engagement activities where the young women hugged and touched the members of B1A4.
kpopstarz.comTaeyang of popular K-pop group Big Band is slated to perform in KL tomorrow (7 February) and you can be sure that there will be absolutely no hugging involved during his concert
Taeyang is the first K-pop artist to perform in Malaysia following the B1A4 fiasco last month.
Ticket sales are not affected, nor have religious authorities issued any notice or guidelines to the concert organisers, but the programme has been changed to avoid any interaction between the singer and fans
"There will be no interactive sessions between fans and Taeyang, unlike previously," said the organiser. "Serious attention has been given to the concert programme to make sure that a repeat of what happened last month does not occur."
themalaysianinsider.comTo put it simply, not only is Taeyang not allowed to hug fans, changes to the programme are probably meant to discourage fans from making physical contact with the singer
Fans should also expect to NOT see Taeyang singing and dancing shirtless, as he usually does. The singer and his dance crew are probably going to be toning down on their suggestive dance moves.
"We have discussed with Taeyang and the dance crew on wearing the proper attire," the organiser added.
