Here's A List Of Discounts And Promotions For Senior Citizens In Malaysia

Make sure to bring along a valid ID to claim these benefits!

1. F&B outlets

(i) The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf: 10% discount on handcrafted food and beverages on weekdays (except Public Holidays). 

(ii) Seoul Garden (halal)Diners who are 55 years and above can enjoy up to 25% off Adult rates for Lunch (11.30am to 4.59pm on weekdays, 11.30am to 3.59pm on weekends and Public Holidays) and Dinner (5.00pm to 10.30pm on weekdays, not applicable on weekends and PH). Prices and discount rates may differ according to locations, check here for the branch you're going to.

(iii) Pak John Steamboat and BBQ (halal): Cheaper rates for weekday lunches (RM29.65++ instead of RM34.90++), as well as for weekend lunches and dinner (RM39.00++ instead of RM45.90++). (iv) Atmosphere 360 Revolving Restaurant @ Menara Kuala Lumpur (pork-free): Senior citizens aged 60 years and above pay the same price as children for Lunch, Afternoon Tea, Hi Tea, and Dinner buffets. More info here.

(v) Mitasu Japanese Restaurant @ Jalan Sultan Ismail, KL (pork-free): Senior citizens pay RM55.70 nett instead of RM74.80 nett (Adult rate) for the weekend lunch buffet and dinner buffet every night. 

(vi) Meisan Restaurant @ Jalan Raja Laut, KL (halal): RM36 nett instead of RM48 nett for dim sum buffet (9am to 3pm). Call 03-2614 8056 for more info.

2. Hotel buffets

(i) Pullman Kuala Lumpur: 40% off Adult rate for Weekend Hi Tea Buffet and 50% off for Weekend Seafood Buffet Dinner (Hot Pot Steamboat). More info on the buffets here.

3. Malindo's Golden Senior Fare

Malaysian citizens and Permanent Residents who are 60 years old and above are eligible for a 20% discount on base fares

4. Public transportation

(i) MyRapid Concession Card for senior citizens: With this card, Malaysian senior citizens who are aged 60 years and above can get a 50% fare discount on RapidKL Bus, BRT, LRT, Monorail, and MRT services. More info and registration details here.

(ii) KTM ETS: Up to 50% off on ticket prices for all coach classes. More info here.

5. Senior Citizenship Appreciation Programme by the Penang state government

Established in 2009 by the Penang state government, the programme contributes an appreciation cash token of RM130 annually to registered senior citizens. Family members of registered senior citizens will also receive a one-off RM1,000 in cash for funeral expenses. 

To be eligible for the programme, applicants must be 60 years old and above and a registered voter in Penang. You can check your eligibility here.

6. Healthcare

(i) Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) Wellness Centre: 10% to 15% discount on Wellness Screening packages. Call 03-2600 6421 or WhatsApp 019-323 2659 for more details.

(ii) Sunway Medical Centre's Cherish Card: Applicable for senior citizens who are 60 years old and above, the card's benefits include 5% to 30% discounts on health screening packages, room rates, hospital charges, and selected SunMed retailers. More info

7. Cinemas

(i) Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC): Up to 50% off for senior citizens who are 55 years old and above, applicable only for shows before 6pm on weekdays (excluding Wednesdays and Public Holidays. Terms and conditions apply.

(ii) mmCineplex (formerly Cathay Cineplex): Those aged 55 years and above can enjoy movies tickets as low as RM7 every day, any time. However, senior citizen tickets can only be purchased over the counter. More info

8. Karaoke outlets

(i) Red Box Karaoke: Half price for senior citizens (60 years old and above) for Happy Hour onwards (1pm to 6pm), valid everyday. More info.

(ii) Loud Speaker Karaoke: RM11 nett for Happy Hour (1pm to 7pm). Applicable at all outlets on weekdays only, excluding Public Holidays and eve of Public Holidays. Terms and conditions apply.

9. Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) concerts

Senior citizens aged 55 years and above can enjoy a 15% discount on all ticket prices

However, tickets can only be purchased at the DFP Box Office, KLCC and are not applicable for online transactions. More details here.

10. Tourist attractions and museums

(i) PETRONAS Twin Towers: Senior citizens (61 years old and above) get 50% off. MyKad holders only have to pay RM14, compared to RM28 for adults. More info.

(ii) Aquaria KLCC: Senior citizen rates are RM39 (with MyKad) and RM49 (without MyKad), which are RM20 cheaper than adult rates. More info.

(iii) Petrosains @ Suria KLCC: Those who are 61 years old and above only need to pay about less than half of the Adult rate. See the price breakdown here.

(iv) National Science Centre @ Bukit Damansara: Senior citizens 55 years old and above get half off, paying RM3 instead of RM6, as well as free entrance to the Survive the Bunker experience. More info.

(i) Sunway Lagoon: Senior citizens pay the same price as children; MyKad holders at RM113, international guests at RM170. More info.

(ii) SnowWorld @ Resorts World Genting: Senior citizens pay the same price as children; RM32 for Malaysians and RM43 for non-Malaysians. More info here.
