DBKL To Expand RM1 Fare For Non-Citizens To More GoKL Bus Routes
Malaysians can ride for free using their MyKad with the Touch 'n Go feature.
Starting 1 January 2025, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will begin charging non-Malaysian citizens RM1 per trip for using the GoKL bus service on additional routes
The fare will apply to the Orange (Titiwangsa to MINDEF), Pink (University LRT to PPR Seri Pantai), and Mango Red (KTM/MRT Kampung Batu to Chow Kit) GOKL bus lines.
This follows the earlier implementation of the RM1 fare for non-Malaysians on four other GoKL bus routes:
- Green (KLCC to Bukit Bintang)
- Purple (KLCC to Bukit Bintang)
- Red (Titiwangsa Hub-KL Sentral)
- Blue (Titiwangsa Hub-KL Sentral)
"Payment transactions are cashless using Touch 'n Go, QR codes, and credit or debit cards," DBKL said in a statement.
Malaysians can ride for free, but they must use their MyKad for verification
Citizens with a malfunctioning MyKad or an older MyKad (without the Touch 'n Go feature) must renew their cards with the National Registration Department (JPN) before registering for free rides on GoKL.
MyKad holders must register or verify their cards to ensure the balance in their cards is not deducted during rides.
Children aged 12 and below do not need to register and may ride the buses for free, regardless of citizenship.
If you have not registered your MyKad for the free GoKL bus service, you can do so at the following locations:
1. Hentian Akhir Titiwangsa
2. Universiti LRT Station (East)
3. Hentian One Maxim
Time: 7am to 12pm and 2pm to 7pm (Daily)
DBKL will also set up a registration counter on the 8th floor of Jabatan Pengangkutan Bandar (Menara DBKL 2) from 9am to 12pm and 2pm to 4pm daily.
