Cats can indeed be a man's best life companion, offering deep bonds with their owners thanks to their affectionate nature

However, living in a shared space, such as a condominium, poses the challenge of owning a furry friend within your living space. Most shared spaces prohibit owning pets to maintain the welfare of everyone in the building. In fact, some places may hold you liable if you are caught owning a pet on the premises.

Funny enough, the management did not mention anything about owning a LEGO cat, and that's exactly what we got.

The LEGO Ideas 21349 Tuxedo Cat is a perfect blocky companion for cat lovers

Our sharply dressed cat came in a large, portrait-oriented box, which is a nice touch since it makes it easy to repurpose the box later for organising things. Inside, there were 20 bags and a nicely printed instruction manual.

No sticker sheet was included this time, as the eyes are the only decorated parts printed directly onto the pieces.

The manual shared a heartwarming backstory regarding the inception of this handsome, blocky feline

Damian Andres' Ideas project was inspired by his own cat, a Siamese-Birman cross named Miro; however, the final model turned out to be a well-dressed tuxedo cat. It's understandable why LEGO opted for more common and recognisable colours that would appeal to a broader range of cat lovers.

Building the Tuxedo Cat was a nothing short of exciting

This writer is, by no means, an experienced LEGO builder, but the entire process was extremely streamlined and well thought out. As we put together brick by brick, a familiar silhouette of a chatty little feline started to take shape.

It took approximately eight hours for an amateur LEGO builder to piece together 1,710 LEGO pieces, but the hours just flew past as we flipped page by page and went through those 20 bags of parts.

Standing at over 32cm tall, the finished build was a sight to behold.

The Tuxedo Cat looks pretty real, especially if you catch a glance out of the corner of your eye

LEGO has done a remarkable job of making the cat look surprisingly realistic, especially from a distance.

Catching a glimpse of it out of the corner of our eye made it seem like it was a real cat. The sculpting and curves of the body are very lifelike, and the face looks as good as it possibly can considering it's made from LEGO. Plus, we like how LEGO managed to capture the cheeky nature of cats through the option of open and closed mouths. Even the eyes are almost as expressive as a real cat's.

We would have loved it if it had whiskers, but realistically, we don't think there is a LEGO part resembling a whisker out there.

As a cat lover, we found it to be a lovely set. I’m sure it'll be popular with other cat enthusiasts, both young and old, and would make the perfect gift for one.

Should you get the LEGO Ideas Tuxedo Cat? Here's what we think:

This LEGO set is a must-have for any self-respecting cat lover out there. Priced at RM449.90, there is little to no reason to wait for a sale to 'adopt' an adorable, dapper LEGO figure.
