1. Evenings in Hua Hin are usually very cooling

Thanks to its strategic location as a seaside town, tourists can enjoy the sea breeze that comes in during the evening. This makes visiting their famous night market really relaxing as you don't need to deal with sweat and sticky skin after a night out.

Peak season starts from December and ends in February due to the cool weather with minimal rain. Those who don't like the crowd should consider visiting Hua Hin between July and November as there are fewer tourists during this time. Hotel prices will be cheaper and you can still enjoy plenty of sunshine during this time.

2. They have an annual food festival

At the end of every November, street vendors, restaurants and even hotels will come up with amazing food deals for Hua Hin's annual Food Festival. You can find fresh seafood stalls, cooking contests, and a wide array of local food at almost every part of the town during this time.

The festival usually lasts for three days. It's safe to say that you'll never run out of good food to try when you spend your holidays in Hua Hin during November.

3. There's a super Instagram-worthy sunflower field

The famous sunflower farms are not limited to the northern part of Thailand - there's one in Hua Hin too! The sunflowers of Wat Huay Mongkhon were planted by the monks of the temple. The farm was initially filled with 80,000 square metres of sunflowers, but was expanded to 160,000 square metres recently due to its growing popularity.

The sunflowers are usually in full bloom from November till February. You can also visit the Wat Huay Mongkol temple nearby, which is known for having the world's largest statue of the revered Thai monk, Luang Phor Thuad.

Location: Wat Huay Mongkhon
Opening hours: Daily, 5am till 10pm

4. You can also taste a bit of Europe at the Hua Hin Hills Vineyard

People usually associate vineyards with European countries like France and Italy, but you can find some in Thailand too - and Hua Hin is home to one of them. Hua Hin Hills Vineyard is one of the largest of its kind in Thailand, and the grapevines were grown using rainwater. They plant five varietals of grapes there: Shiraz, Colombard, Chenin Blanc, Dornfelder, and Sangiovese.

March is the harvest season, which is the best time to visit. You can also opt to visit the vineyard during January and February as that's the time when you can already see the fruits. There's a wine tasting package available at The Sala, the vineyard's restaurant, where you can try all the wines they produce.

Opening hours: 9am till 8pm

5. It's home to the popular Cicada Night Market

If you're into arts and craft, or a big fan of indie fashion labels, you might like Hua Hin's Cicada Night Market. The name 'cicada' doesn't refer to the insect, but instead stands for 'Community of Identity Culture Arts & Dynamic Activities'. You can find anything from clothes, to souvenirs, and artisanal soaps at this night market.

A popular one is Santorini Park Cha-am, an amusement park modelled after the famous Greek Island. The park is split into a few zones: a Park Zone for rides, a water park, a shopping zone that is built exactly like the houses in Santorini, and a Rest Area where you can find restaurants and cafés that serve all types of cuisines.

7. There's also a beautiful national park called Khao Sam Roi Yot, where you can explore caves and marshes

Those who prefer the green outdoors can visit the Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park, known for the famous Royal Pavilion located inside the Phraya Nakhon Cave. The trip to the Royal Pavilion is probably one of the most exciting activities you can do in the park, as it requires at least 30 minutes of trekking along a steep route.

Those who prefer a more relaxing stroll can visit the Thung Sam Roi Yot Freshwater Marsh. This quiet part of the park is perfect for birdwatching and camping.

The national park is just 27km away from Hua Hin town, and can be easily reached via one of the many minivans you can find in the town centre.

Location: Kui Buri District
Opening hours: 8am till 3:30pm

8. The fried chicken in Hua Hin is probably the best in Thailand

There's a restaurant in Hua Hin called Krua Kannnikar that is said to have the best fried chicken in town, and possibly the whole of Thailand. The restaurant has been around for 40 years - as a food cart in their early days, and now a brick-and-mortar store.

Their bestseller is the Koson Special Fried Chicken - chicken fried in a special batter to golden perfection. The unique Stuffed Chicken Wing is also a must-have, where chicken wings are stuffed with glass vermicelli and minced pork, and then deep fried.

Location: Prappokklao Road
Opening hours: 10:30am till 3:30pm

9. The charming Khao Takiab beach

Khao Takiab is said to be the most beautiful beach in Hua Hin, especially with the view of a huge golden statue of Buddha looking towards the sea. The beach is not as crowded as Hua Hin beach, so you can enjoy some quiet time with your family or friends there.

There are many beachside restaurants along the shore that serve great seafood, the most popular one being Supatra by the Sea. Sometimes, you might even see monkeys from the nearby hill on the beach. Tourists are advised not to feed them as they might turn aggressive.

On top of these, Hua Hin also has some of the prettiest hotels you'll ever see
