This American Burger Expert Went Viral For Recreating The M'sian Ramly Burger On YouTube

Nicknamed the 'foremost authority on hamburgers' for his skills in flipping patties, American TV Personality George Motz has been feeding us mouth-watering burger recipes for decades

Aside from his recipes, Motz is an Emmy award-winning videographer who has been recognised for his decades of dedication to documenting the history of hamburgers.

From the Mississippi Sugburger to the Teriyaki Burger, Motz is also a regular on YouTube channel 'First We Feast', where he teaches viewers and preserves the best burger recipes from all over the world.

Motz did not leave Malaysia's very own Ramly Burger out of the map

In a seven-minute YouTube video, Motz taught his viewers how to prepare the 'Spicy Malaysian Egg Burger', which he also called the Sloppy Burger, and the 'Sampah' Burger.

"The 'Sampah' Burger, which is Malaysian for 'rubbish', is not rubbish at all. It's a total flavour bomb. Wrapped in an egg and covered with spices, it's one of the craziest burgers [I've] ever tried," Motz said.

Motz also spoke about the history of the Ramly Burger

"This burger was born on the streets of Malaysia in the same year that McDonald's opened its first location in Kuala Lumpur," said Motz.

Motz added that Malaysians probably saw McDonald's burgers and weren't impressed with its simplicity as there's only beef, cheese, and bread. Thus, the Ramly Burger is the perfect example of a localised dish made complex and catered for Malaysians' distinct tastebuds.

"I hope I can cook it right now because I've actually failed a few times attempting this. This is not easy," he added.

Motz then shared with his global audience how to make a Ramly Burger

Before toasting his burger buns, Motz emphasised the importance of using margarine instead of butter to truly get the Malaysian Burger experience.

He then smashed a burger patty with his hands and placed it on the hot, margarine-oiled grill.

As for seasoning, Motz used curry powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and cumin for his special Ramly Burger.

"Now, for the egg, they do it like this. They spread it out like a painting almost," said Motz.

On top of the egg, Motz layered a slice of American cheese, the perfectly grilled patty, mayonnaise, Worcester sauce, and chilli sauce. He then wrapped and sandwiched them between the toasted buns.

"And there it is, the Malaysian Burger, also known as the Sampah Burger," said Motz.

Motz's video, originally uploaded in 2020, recently went viral on TikTok and the comment section was flooded with positive reactions
