TNB Will Reimburse You For Your Electricity Bill If Your Smart Meter Reading Is Incorrect
The system remains the most efficient way to monitor bills and minimise carbon footprints.
Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has reaffirmed that its smart meter readings are accurate, and that the system remains the most efficient way to monitor your electricity bills and help minimise your carbon footprint
First introduced in Melaka, the initiative involves replacing all traditional meters with the Smart Meter that will "record consumption of electric energy in intervals of an hour or less and communicates the information at least daily back to the utility for monitoring and billing".
Recently, a handful of users in Melaka have made complaints over their monthly bills soaring since converting to the smart meters. However, TNB has discovered previous charges were low due to a number of factors including meter tampering.
In light of consumer concerns, TNB is hosting a 'Hari Bersama Pelanggan' event, allowing you to check your electricity bill with a TNB officer directly
Take note of the details:
Date: 28-31 May 2019
Time: 8.30am-4pm
Location: Pusat Khidmat Pelanggan Bandar Melaka, Jalan Banda Kaba, Kampung Banda Kaba, 75000 Melaka
Here's what will be happening at the 'Hari Bersama Pelanggan' event:
- TNB will investigate each case based on the electricity patterns over the last six months
- They will advise on the energy usage of specific appliances at home
- Following the investigation, TNB will reimburse users in the event any overcharging or excess reading occurred
