According to Sin Chew Daily, Suharwardi was rushed to Miri Hospital for emergency treatment but was pronounced dead at 3am on Monday, 24 June.
It is understood that the budding bodybuilder had just returned to his home at Kampung Pujut Tanjung Batu, Miri, after competing in the 58th Mr Sarawak Bodybuilding Championships in Sibu, which concluded over the weekend.
Suharwardi won fourth place in his category and contributed to the Miri team's top finish at the event.
Last month, the auxiliary police officer won a bodybuilding championship in Miri, which qualified him to represent his city at the 58th Mr Sarawak Bodybuilding Championships.
Suharwardi reportedly started to experience discomfort while sleeping on Monday night
His family members rushed him to the hospital but he was pronounced dead in the emergency department, reported China Press.
Miri Division Bodybuilding Association confirmed Suharwardi's death in a Facebook post yesterday.
His death has saddened many in the state's bodybuilding community, with numerous people sending their condolences to his family.
