45-Year-Old Man Allegedly Kills Neighbour For Always Asking Him Why He's Not Married Yet
The perpetrator admitted to the police that he wanted to kill his neighbour.
A 45-year-old man in Indonesia allegedly killed his 60-year-old neighbour after getting annoyed by the latter's persistent questioning about his marital status
The incident occurred when perpetrator Parlindungan Siregar entered retired civil servant Asgim Irianto's shop at around 8pm on 29 July in North Sumatra, Indonesia, reported local media Detik Jogja.
According to the region's assistant police commissioner Maria Marpaung, the victim's wife said Parlindungan began attacking her husband with a piece of wood he had with him.
"The victim ran into the street, but the perpetrator chased the victim and hit the victim's head with the wood. The victim fell and the perpetrator continued hitting the victim," said Maria.
Residents who witnessed the attack intervened to stop Parlindungan and rushed Asgim to the hospital, but he died before he could receive treatment.
Parlindungan was arrested an hour after the attack
When interrogated by the police, Maria said Parlindungan was determined to beat Asgim to death because his neighbour had always hurt his feelings by jokingly asking why he was not married yet at the age of 45.
Additionally, the victim and Parlindungan also had a prior dispute about their chickens frequently going into each other's coops.
