A Group Of 5 Men In Telawi Attacked & Killed A Man With Knives And Broken Beer Bottles
Another man was severely injured and is still in critical condition at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital where he received 300 stitches on his face.
A 28-year-old man bled out after he was attacked by a group of five armed men in Jalan Telawi 3, Bangsar early on Saturday, 13 March
According to Brickfields district police chief ACP Anuar Omar, the assault took place at 1am yesterday during which the victim and his friend were attacked by the group while they were walking to a parking area.
The victim and his friend were repeatedly hit with helmets, knives, and broken beer bottles.
While the 28-year-old succumbed to his injuries, his 30-year-old friend was severely injured and is still in critical condition at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital where he received 300 stitches on his face, Anuar said.
Photos and videos of the assault went viral on social media
They showed the victim, who was shirtless, sustained slashes to his chest.
One of the videos circulating showed the victim trying to run after being attacked but failed when he fell to the ground in front of a 24-hour convenience store behind the Affin Bank branch.
In another video, an unidentified man is seen trying to revive the victim who was bleeding profusely by performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on him on the sidewalk.
ACP Anuar said that there was prior bad blood between the victim and one of the attackers, who has since been identified and arrested
In a statement today, 14 March, he said they arrested a man believed to be involved in the murder at Jalan Telawi 3. He was picked up from Jalan 11 Selayang Baru, Batu Caves at 3.30pm yesterday.
"During the raid, we arrested a 26-year-old man and confiscated a smartphone. A check found that the suspect had records related to drug cases," Anuar said in the statement.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 for murder and Section 326 for causing injuries.
