Depressed Elderly Woman Allegedly Attacks OKU Daughter With A Machete While She Was Asleep

An elderly woman who was depressed after recently losing her husband was detained for attacking her daughter, a mentally disabled person (OKU), with a machete

According to Kosmo!, the incident occurred at Felda Kerteh in Terengganu at 9am on Monday, 10 June.

Dungun district police chief Supt Maizura Abdul Kadir said the victim, a 46-year-old woman, sustained neck and chest injuries and received five stitches as a result of the attack.

The initial investigation revealed that the suspect was lying down in the living room before suddenly grabbing a machete and barging into her daughter's bedroom

"The victim's scream was heard by her 33-year-old brother who rushed to the scene and discovered his sister covered in blood.

"He then immediately grabbed the machete from his mother before informing the police about the incident," said Maizura.

Maizura added that the suspect was not only depressed as a result of her husband's death, but was also constantly hallucinating.

"The victim was brought to Hospital Dungun to receive treatment for her injuries, while the suspect underwent a psychiatric evaluation at Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah, Kuala Terengganu," she added.
