Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced a one-off financial assistance of RM1,000 for taxi and rental car drivers, as well as school bus drivers

During the tabling of Budget 2027 today, 9 October, Anwar said the aid is expected to benefit 38,000 taxi and rental car drivers and 15,000 school bus drivers nationwide.

He said the assistance will be disbursed next week.

"Following the recent sale of the special H number plates, the government has agreed to provide a one-off special financial assistance of RM1,000 to 38,000 taxi drivers, including rental car drivers, and 15,000 school bus drivers nationwide," he said, referring to the Road Transport Department's (JPJ) auction of special H-series number plates last month, which generated RM91.21 million in total bids.

The 'H' number plate has traditionally been associated with taxis in Malaysia.
