MyKad Printing Services Nationwide To Face Disruptions Until 31 August

MyKad printing services nationwide are expected to experience temporary disruption from today, 26 August, until 31 August

The National Registration Department (JPN) said the disruption is due to the ongoing transition from the existing MyKad structure to the new-generation MyKad.

Members of the public who do not have urgent MyKad-related needs are advised to temporarily postpone applications to replace or exchange their identity cards during the transition period.

Meanwhile, JPN has encouraged parents and guardians of children applying for their first MyKad at the age of 12 to wait for the new-generation cards to become available

"For first-time MyKad applications for 12-year-old children, parents or guardians are also encouraged to wait a while to enable their children to receive the new generation MyKad when production begins in the near future," JPN said in a statement.

The department thanked the public for their patience and cooperation throughout the transition process and apologised for any inconvenience caused.
