Health D-G: Our COVID-19 Wards Are Almost Empty Now
This is the lowest number of COVID-19 cases reported in a day since the Movement Control Order (MCO) was enforced.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham just announced that there are 16 new COVID-19 cases today, 12 May
Within the 16 new cases, nine of those infected with COVID-19 are foreigners.
This brings the number of cases in Malaysia to a total of 6,742 but only 1,410 out of the total are active cases.
During the press conference announcing the daily COVID-19 updates, Dr Noor Hisham also said that there are three imported cases reported today.
This is the lowest number of positive cases reported in a day since the Movement Control Order (MCO) was enforced on 18 March.
Despite fears regarding a second wave of infection, Dr Noor Hisham noted that Malaysia has been doing very well
He said, "Many countries are worried about a second wave, and we are equally worried about a second wave as well. But more importantly, we have implemented the Movement Control Order (MCO). Our implementation has managed to flatten the curve, and we managed to bring down the numbers from three figures to only two figures. We have been doing very well."
Dr Noor Hisham also explained that our healthcare facilities play a big part in containing COVID-19 infection. He cited the utilisation of ventilators, as there are only three patients requiring breathing assistance.
"There are less people in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and our COVID-19 wards are becoming empty now," he added.
Within the past 24 hours, 110 patients have fully recovered
A total of 5,223 patients have been discharged from hospitals since the disease was first identified in the country.
The Ministry of Health's (MOH) official Twitter account noted that the current recovery rate in Malaysia is 77.47%.
