A Malaysian salon owner and his partner have separated after two weeks of marriage

The salon owner with 167,000 followers on TikTok, Danny, married to 22-year-old Nur Azera Fatehah Abdullah on 15 July in Layang-Layang, Johor, reported Berita Harian.

Netizens realised the couple had called it quits after Danny uploaded photos and videos of himself with Azera, with a caption that read, "I'm over it", followed by a sad emoji.

TikTok users became more suspicious after realising old posts of the couple on Danny's social media profiles could no longer be found.

Their relationship caught the attention of many netizens when the duo announced their plans to get married last month, despite having known each other for only five days.

Confirming the divorce to Harian Metro, Danny said they officially separated on 30 July, adding that the pronouncement of divorce was made through WhatsApp.

"I can't share the reasons for the breakup in detail, but what I can say is it happened because there was something wrong between us.

"I made the decision myself without talking to my family first.

"My family is really annoying, especially my mother. I haven't been answering her phone calls until today (5 August) because I wasn't ready to reveal the truth," he said.

Danny said that while he is saddened by the short-lived marriage, he is still grateful for the opportunity to experience being a husband

"Within two weeks of marriage, I got to experience being a husband, learn the meaning of showing affection to a woman, and feel the joys of family life that I've always wanted, even if it was temporary," said the 40-year-old.

"Honestly, I don't blame her or hold grudges against her because I might have made mistakes without realising them or failed to be a good husband for her.

"Even though we are no longer husband and wife after this, I hope we can become good friends who can share problems with one another.

"At the moment, I haven't thought about changing my decision. But I don't mind if we reunite at a later date," he added.

While speaking to reporters, Danny also took the opportunity to deny netizens' accusations that claimed his marriage with Azera was just to create content

"I know that before getting married until now, there are indeed a handful of netizens saying my marriage was just for 'content'.

"But think about it, would I spend money on the wedding and commit my sincere heart to the marriage just for 'content'?

"However, I forgive those who threw the accusations at me. I am grateful for those who gave words of encouragement and also prayed for us," he said.

Many netizens found the couple unique for not being gender normative. In a brief response to SAYS, Danny stated that neither of them uses gender-neutral pronouns.
