The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) is investigating allegations that a cadet at the National Defence University (UPNM) military training camp in Sungai Besi was bullied by a senior, who pressed a hot iron against his chest

In a statement on Wednesday, 30 October, MAF acknowledged online reports and a photo of the alleged incident that has gone viral on social media.

"MAF stresses that a thorough investigation will be conducted and there will be no cover-up or compromise," the statement read.

"Stern disciplinary action and legal action will be taken against any party found guilty," it added.

MAF also urged the public not to speculate and to allow the university to investigate the matter thoroughly

"All developments resulting from the investigation will be communicated to the public from time to time," it assured.

It is understood that the incident came to light when an instructor noticed the burn marks on the cadet's body during a combat training session last week.

Sources told The Merdeka Times that the victim is a second-year male cadet officer and shared a photo of the purported burn marks on the student's chest.
