An old video of the six former Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) students found guilty of the murder of navy cadet Zulfarhan Osman Zulkarnain has resurfaced and is going viral on social media

The old video, which has been uploaded on several social media platforms and reported on local news sites, shows the six accused appearing relieved while walking outside the courthouse in Kuala Lumpur.

All six of them were seen smiling and waving to reporters after the High Court on 2 November 2021 sentenced them under a lesser charge instead of murder, as they were originally charged.

The six – Muhammad Akmal Zuhairi Azmal, Muhammad Azamuddin Mad Sofi, Muhammad Najib Mohd Razi, Muhammad Afif Najmudin Azahat, Mohamad Shobirin Sabri, and Abdoul Hakeem Mohd Ali – were sentenced to prison. However, their sentences have now been overturned, and they have been given the death penalty.
