A 49-year-old man has been arrested for assaulting a police officer after the latter tried to stop him from battering a woman, who is believed to be his wife

According to New Straits Times, the incident happened at the Sungai Way Impian Baiduri apartments in Petaling Jaya on Wednesday, 11 November.

The man was said to be "running amok" and hitting his wife at about 5pm. Police officers rushed to the location after receiving a distress call on the disturbance from the members of the public.

When the police arrived at the scene, the man started hurling foul words at the police personnel, before proceeding to use a piece of wood to club a police officer and strangling him.
