Looks like it's going to be a rainy Chinese New Year, according to weather forecasts from the Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia)

A notice from METMalaysia reveals that rain and thunderstorms are expected across the peninsular and East Malaysia on Saturday, 10 February, and Sunday, 11 February.

Pahang, Perak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Johor are predicted to experience heavy rain and thunderstorms on Saturday afternoon, following a relatively clear morning, according to The Star.

Only three states will remain dry over the coming weekend — Penang, Kedah, and Perlis

Rain is expected across Sarawak, namely in Kuching, Samarahan, Serian, Sibu, Kapit, Betong, Sarikei, Mukah, Bintulu, and Miri.

Over in Sabah, Sandakan and Kudat may experience rain on Saturday morning, while the west coast and Labuan will experience rain later at night.

Sunday weather forecasts look similarly wet across the nation throughout the day

Rain and thunderstorms are expected in the later part of the day across all states, except Penang, Kedah, and Perlis.
