Police are offering traffic offenders up to 50% off on outstanding summonses starting today, 18 June
The campaign dubbed 'Kempen Bayar Saman' will be carried out for one month until 18 July.
The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) announced the initiative on Facebook and said that the offer applies to all compoundable offences, including those listed under the 'blacklist' category.
Meanwhile, PDRM highlighted that summonses currently under trial are not entitled to the discount
The discount also does not apply to major offences committed this year as well as offences involving heavy vehicles and exhaust modifications.
All payments can be made online through the PDRM portal or the MyBayar Saman application
Throughout the campaign period, all service counters at the police contingent and district headquarters will be closed to curb the spread of the coronavirus during the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) 3.0.
The JSPT Facebook page also noted that MyBayar Saman is an initiative to support the government's aspiration to provide cashless payment services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
