A video of a man assaulting a woman with a motorcycle helmet recently went viral on Facebook
In the video, a man can be seen yelling at a woman while seated on a motorcycle. He then shoved her and proceeded to hit her with his motorcycle helmet.
According to the viral posts, the incident was believed to have happened in Gua Musang, Kelantan.
In a statement on Thursday, 26 January, Kelantan police acknowledged the presence of the video on social media. However, no police report had been made regarding the incident.
Two days later, 28 January, the police announced that they have successfully apprehended a man believed to be the suspect in the video
According to the following statement, it was revealed that the 35-year-old man and woman are married, and the man tested positive for methamphetamine in a urine drug test.
Gua Musang district police deputy chief Supt Sik Choon Foo said the fight broke out after the husband did not want his wife to go to work that day and had requested her to take care of his sick mother, reported Berita Harian.
The case is now being investigated under Section 323/18 of the Domestic Violence Act 1994 and Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. The suspect will be remanded for four days starting 29 January until 1 February for further investigation.
