According to a passenger, the seatbelt sign wasn't turned on when the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner hit turbulence while flying over Turkey

The flight encountered severe turbulence during meal service.

Passengers described the plane dropping for around 20 seconds, leaving them feeling shaken by the experience.

"I had to grab the seat in front, I had to put my seatbelt on," one passenger told Irish broadcaster RTE, adding that food and drinks spilled everywhere and left the plane in a mess afterwards.

Another passenger, Paul Mocc, described people hitting the roof when the flight encountered turbulence.

According to him, he saw crew members limping around afterwards, some with bandages, and one passenger receiving oxygen due to apparent back injuries.

Myla, another passenger, said she thought it was "the end of her life".

Meanwhile, a woman said that she was not in a hurry to board another plane anytime soon.

She described it as the "worst experience" she ever had on a plane.
