Toyota Supra Driver Arrested After Hitting A Truck While Attempting To Drift

A Toyota Supra driver from Batu Pahat, Johor has been arrested after hitting a truck while attempting to drift

A viral video circulating on social media shows the owner of a silver Toyota Supra attempting to drift in the middle of the night.

The sports car was in the middle of an empty intersection, attempting to kick its tail out sideways. However, following the drift attempt, the driver lost control of the car and collided with a nearby four-wheel-drive vehicle.

Bystanders and individuals in the vicinity gathered around the accident site to check on the driver and inspect the damages resulting from the incident.

The driver has been arrested by the police for reckless driving

Acting district police chief Superintendent Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said following the incident, the police launched an investigation and managed to apprehend the individual at 1.15pm on the same day.

"The Batu Pahat district Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department identified a viral video on Facebook showing footage of a car being driven dangerously while performing drifts. The suspect's actions led to a collision with another vehicle that was parked at the scene," said Shahrulanuar in a statement on Facebook.

"Based on information and further investigation, police successfully identified the driver and the vehicle involved. A urine test on the suspect yielded negative results for drugs. Apart from arresting the suspect, we also seized his car for investigation," he added.

The investigation is being conducted under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving

The suspect will be presented before the Batu Pahat magistrate's court, where the police will seek a remand order to detain him for further investigation.
