A taxi driver in Bangkok, Thailand couldn't help but share his happiness after receiving an extraordinary EUR1,000 (RM5,000) tip from a passenger

Sharing his story on public Facebook group, Taxi Drivers in Thailand, the driver, Chang Yim, said that he managed to rush a passenger from Don Mueang Airport to Suvarnabhumi Airport within 30 minutes to catch a flight.

This was quite a feat, considering that it takes about 45 minutes to travel between the two airports.

Chang shared a photo of the two EUR500 banknotes he received from the grateful passenger. In the photo, his taxi metre showed that the ride should have only cost THB677 (RM90).

His caption read, "The customer said to keep the change!"

Chang explained that he was supposed to drop the passenger off at Don Mueang Airport from the city

However, upon arriving there, the passenger realised he was at the wrong departure point and asked Chang to drive him to Suvarnabhumi Airport instead.

"'If you manage to arrive on time and I don't miss my flight, I will pay you extra,' is what he said to me," Chang recounted to a netizen.

The taxi driver also emphasised that he did not request for additional payment from the passenger.

"The passenger probably didn't want to miss his flight because he had business to attend to. Calculating what he would lose if he missed his flight, it must be worth it for him.

"I didn't demand anything, I just ran the metre as usual," he said.

Chang added that he was initially hesitant to accept the different currency, but the passenger had paid him and hurried off

However, he was happy to report to social media users that the bills were indeed authentic, especially after some pointed out that EUR500 notes have been out of circulation for years.

In another comment, he shared a slip showing he had exchanged the notes for THB37,600 (approximately RM5,000).

All in a good day's work!
