[VIDEO] 12-Year-Old Boy In Rantau Filmed Driving A Tanker In Broad Daylight
The police are currently tracking down the child's parents to assist in the probe.
The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is currently looking for the parents of a child after a video emerged online showing the boy driving a tanker in broad daylight
In the one-minute-and-18-second long video, the child can be seen trying to park the tanker in a yard.
In the video, the Hino truck can be seen bearing a Federal Territories number plate, while the driver's door states that the truck belongs to a company located in Rantau, Negeri Sembilan.
Speaking in Tamil, a voice behind the camera says the boy is only 12 years old
"Look at our next generation. (He's) 12 years old," says the man, before walking up to the truck to reveal the child behind the wheel after the vehicle is parked.
"Look at our driver here," the man adds.
Footage shows the boy is tall enough to reach the peddle.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the incident is believed to have taken place in Rantau
According to Sinar Harian, Seremban district police chief ACP Mohd Said Ibrahim said the case is being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001 for abusing or neglecting the child in a manner that is likely to cause physical or emotional injury.
If convicted, the person will face imprisonment of up to 10 years, a RM20,000 fine, or both.
The police are currently tracking down the child's parents to assist in the probe.
"We have received a report on this and are investigating. The boy's father is clearly negligent if he allowed his underage son to drive the tanker lorry," said ACP Mohd Said.
