A video of a man brandishing sticks on a road after he was believed to be unhappy with a group of mat rempits for speeding and performing stunts in broad daylight has gone viral on social media

The 26-second video shows one motorcyclist putting his legs up near the handlebars as he zooms along Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kuantan in Kemaman, Terengganu.

About half a dozen motorcyclists are also spotted speeding on the busy road.

Additionally, several motorcyclists can be seen running the red light, forcing a white sedan to slow down in the middle of the Geliga traffic light junction to make way for them.

The video then shows a man in a sarong pacing the road with two sticks in hand. He is believed to be trying to deter the mat rempit activities on the road.

He can also be seen talking to a group of motorcyclists dressed in traditional Malay garb on the other side of the road, as if to dare them to ride dangerously on the road.

Kemaman police chief Supt Hanyan Ramlan said the incident took place at about 6.45pm on the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri, 22 April

He said the police are trying to identify and locate all who were involved in the incident to facilitate further investigations, reported New Straits Times.

"Members of the public who have any information regarding the incident are urged to come forward and liaise with police," he said in a statement.

The district police chief also advised members of the public to lodge a police report instead of taking matters into their own hands whenever something happens that irks or riles them up.

"The case is being investigated under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987 (for reckless driving) and Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation," said Hanyan.
