"We Will Not Work With PH" – Muhyiddin Turns Down Agong's Suggestion Of A PN-PH Merge
The Perikatan Nasional (PN) leader said that he has 115 names who support PN without any merge.
After the 15th General Election (GE15) resulted in a hung parliament, Malaysia is still awaiting the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's decision on who will be Malaysia's 10th Prime Minister
Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah called forth Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to the Istana Negara at 4.30pm yesterday, 22 November, to discuss matters moving forward.
However, after the meeting, Anwar exited the palace and spoke to the press, stating that no decision has been made and "the prime minister position is empty for now".
Muhyiddin also presented himself to the press yesterday, and stated that the Agong had asked PN to work with PH
According to Free Malaysia Today, the Pagoh member of parliament (MP) declined the suggestion.
"We have discussed this beforehand. We will not work with PH," Muhyiddin said to reporters.
Holding a file, allegedly containing the relevant documents, Muhyiddin claimed that he had the support of 115 MPs to form a government.
The PN chairman said that he had submitted the names to the Istana Negara on Monday, 21 November, and has the letter of receipt from the Agong's senior private secretary as proof.
However, Muhyiddin claimed that the Agong said that the names he submitted were not enough.
"I want to prove that when we submitted this… We had more than 112 MPs (supporting PN). That's why we were confident that we could form the government."
"But when I met (the King), he said this was not enough. I don't know what was the reason for this, but the proof is there," he said.
