Raub Woman Causes Chaos After Escaping Court In Handcuffs
Malaysia's Bonnie and Clyde?
A 23-year-old woman staged a dramatic escape at Raub court after being charged with drug possession yesterday, 14 September
New Straits Times reported that the only female suspect, Saidatina Aida Sahabudin, was supposed to be escorted back to the Raub police station after court hearings with 11 other suspects.
She was convicted under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, along with four past charges under the same act.
Around 4.30pm, Saidatina was waiting in line for her turn to get on the police truck.
All of a sudden, a motorcyclist showed up and braked quickly next to the woman
Like a scene straight out of an action movie, the handcuffed Saidatina got onto her accomplice's Yamaha LC and the duo sped away from the court area.
A police officer fell and injured himself trying to run after the motorcycle.
The owner of the motorcycle has been identified as a 22-year-old man from Benta
According to Info Roadblock JPJ/POLIS, Raub district police chief Superintendent Kama Azural Mohamed said that police stations in neighbouring districts have been alerted about the suspects.
"Police have launched a hunt for both the suspects and we hope members of the public with information on both individuals to contact the nearest police station."
