Woman Fined RM3,000 For Attacking & Biting DBKL Officers At Ramadan Bazaar
A photo of an officer's arm with bite marks went viral last week.
A woman has been fined RM3,000 for attacking and biting Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) enforcement officers at a Ramadan bazaar last week
The incident, which occurred on Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman on 5 March, was captured in a viral video showing the woman screaming and resisting DBKL officers.
According to Utusan Malaysia, Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman said the 30-year-old woman was charged under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing civil servants to conduct their duties.
She pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined RM3,000 on 8 March.
The woman, reportedly an unlicensed food vendor, injured two DBKL officers during the scuffle
In a statement last week, DBKL explained that the incident happened when its officers were conducting a ground check at the location to ensure traders were operating with permits.
"Enforcement action is only taken when individuals involved ignore prior warnings and continue to operate illegally.
"The presence of illegal hawkers in prohibited areas can cause traffic congestion, obstruct pedestrian walkways, and create issues related to waste management and food hygiene," read the statement.
DBKL said it takes such provocations seriously and will not tolerate any aggressive actions against its officers.
