2 Women & A Child Sustain Injuries After Falling Off 'Sotong Ride' At Shah Alam Fun Fair
The fun fair is being investigated for operating without a license.
Two women and a child were hurt last night, 12 December, after falling from a fun fair ride at Puncak Alam's Eco Grandeur, Selangor
Several videos have gone viral online capturing the exact moment when the tragedy transpired.
In a 37-second video posted on TikTok, one of the carriages of the ride can be seen crashing into a barrier. Two people were thrown into the air and landed on the ground as a result of the collision.
According to Kuala Selangor district police chief Ramli Kasa,
officers rushed to the scene after receiving a call about the incident at 8.50pm
Ramli added that two women and a child fell from the 'Sotong Ride' while it was operating and were immediately rushed to the hospital, reported Free Malaysia Today.
He also said that the case will be investigated under Section 6 of the Selangor Entertainment and Places of Entertainment Enactment 1995 for operating without a licence.
Malaysians were horrified by the incident and expressed their concerns about the safety measures of the fun fair
One user said that the fun fair's safety measures are flawed and that they would sue the organiser if they were involved in the accident.
Another user commented that it appears from the video that the victims were not wearing seatbelts, to which another user responded that the ride does not have seatbelts.
"The fun fair's organisers should have double-checked everything before allowing the public to ride their attractions because this involves the safety of both adults and children," said another.
