Some 10 million Malaysians over the age of 21 with an annual income under RM100,000 will be eligible to claim a one-off RM100 e-cash credit

The scheme is set to cost the government RM1 billion, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said during the second reading of the 2024 Budget at the Dewan Rakyat yesterday, 29 November.

The redemption period for the e-cash credit officially begins on Monday, 4 December, and eligible individuals have until 20 February 2024 to claim the benefit through four designated e-wallet providers.

The four e-wallets involved are Maybank's MAE, Petronas' Setel, ShopeePay, and Touch 'n Go eWallet

The RM100 e-credit can be utilised for physical purchases through the selected e-wallet platforms.

The four e-wallets are also expected to offer additional initiatives in the form of vouchers, cashback, discounts, reward points, and coins, among others. So, choose wisely by comparing each offer before making a decision.

Meanwhile, Anwar also highlighted Malaysia's success in securing substantial investment commitments totalling RM347 billion

These commitments were obtained through official visits as well as trade and investment missions to countries such as China, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and the USA.

Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, commended the efforts of government agencies, particularly the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI), for securing these significant investment commitments.

He revealed that the government had already approved investments valued at RM132.6 billion, surpassing 60% of the target set for the first half of 2023, reported the New Straits Times.
