Detecting a disease early on in a blessing, especially when it's something that is potentially life threatening

Previously, an Apple Watch helped a woman find out that she was pregnant by detecting her rapidly increasing high resting heart rate. And now, the same heart measurement feature helped 12-year old Imani Miles discover that she had cancer.

According to hourdetroit, Imani's mum noticed constant beeps from her daughter's smartwatch and took it as a concern.

"That's really weird because it's never happened before. It just kept going off," she stated.

Imani's mum then proceeded to take her to the hospital for a check up

It was at this time that Imani had to undergo a surgery to remove her appendix as treatment for appendicitis, as reported by 9TO5Mac.

Additonally, the doctors also noticed that Imani's appendix had a tumour that is very rarely seen in children. Turns out, it was a cancer symptom.

Upon further examination, it was found that the cancer had spread to other parts of Imani's body

She had to undergo a different surgery after to remove the cancer that had spread across her body.

Fortunately, everything went well for her because she managed to detect it early

Her mother was especially relieved with how the situation was handled, saying that she would have probably waited a few days before going to the hospital if the watch didn't go off.

According to Business Standard, Imani's surgery at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital was successful, and she's all well and healthy now.
