Elon Musk's artificial intelligence venture, xAI, has rolled out the latest version of its chatbot, Grok 3

The launch comes amid intensifying battle for AI dominance against heavyweights like OpenAI's ChatGPT and China's DeepSeek.

Promoted by Musk as "scary smart," Grok 3 boasts ten times the computational resources of its predecessor and is designed to minimise the errors — known as "hallucinations" — that often plague AI models.

According to AFP, the chatbot was trained on synthetic data and features self-correction mechanisms that aim to improve its reliability.

"Grok 3 has extremely powerful reasoning abilities, and in our internal tests, it has outperformed every other released model," Musk claimed in a video address to the World Governments Summit in Dubai

But beyond AI advancements, Musk's growing influence in politics has drawn scrutiny.

Since the start of Donald Trump’s new administration, the billionaire has taken on a key advisory role, heading the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

The position grants him sweeping powers to overhaul federal agencies — many of which regulate industries where Musk has significant business interests, raising ethical concerns.

Meanwhile, Musk's xAI is seeking to raise around USD10 billion (RM44.5 billion) in new funding, aiming for a valuation of roughly USD75 billion (RM338.1 billion)

According to Bloomberg, the push for financing underscores the rapidly escalating AI race.

The push comes in the wake of China's DeepSeek launching a powerful, cost-effective model that has disrupted US ambitions to lead AI innovation.

As Musk competes with OpenAI's Sam Altman — his former business partner turned rival — questions loom over whether his political clout could tilt the scales in favour of his own AI empire, reshaping the competitive landscape of the industry.
