Garmin Releases 2 Smartwatches That Are A Must-Have For Divers

Here's how much the Garmin Descent G1 Solar Ocean Edition and Garmin Descent Mk3 will cost you.

Renowned smartwatch maker Garmin has released two watches that are considered a must-have for hardcore divers

The Garmin Descent G1 Solar Ocean Edition and Garmin Descent Mk3 are set to be released at the end of this year. Here's a quick look on each of the smartwatches and how much they'll cost you.

The G1 Solar features an environmentally friendly design

The watch is made entirely from recycled plastics. Yes, it is 100% plastic.

The G1 Solar boasts with a sleek 45mm size and features a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal lens on the monochrome display

Wearers will be able to spot the solar charging lens, which allows the watch to last for more than two days in dive mode and an impressive 124 days in smartwatch mode.

The G1 Solar is water-rated up to 100 meters and complies with US military 810 standards for thermal, shock, and water resistance.

The G1 Solar boasts multiple dive modes for single and multiple gas dives, gauge, apnea, hunt, and closed-circuit rebreather

The G1 Solar's surface GPS accurately tracks dive entry and exit points, and the 3-axis compass aids in underwater navigation. Its versatile software supports over 30 sports modes, enabling you to review data for up to 200 dives.

The Garmin Descent Mk3 series will be bundled with the Descent T2 transceiver

The Descent Mk3 will come in two sizes: 43mm and 51mm. It features an AMOLED touch display and a battery life of up to 48 hours.

Additionally, it can operate up to 200 meters underwater with leakproof buttons.

The Garmin Descent Mk3 Dive View Maps come with over 4,000 preloaded dive sites and bathymetric depth contours

The sensors include elements such as an altimeter, barometer, underwater compass, variometer, and surface GPS. Garmin also provides a built-in flashlight exclusively available in the 51mm variant.

You can preorder Garmin's Descent G1 Solar Ocean Edition and the Mk3 Series from Shopee, Lazada, and AECO stores, and authorised retailers

The prices for the Garmin Descent G1 Solar Ocean Edition are expected to be RM3,087. The Mk3 series is set to launch in December, with prices expected to start at RM6,220.
