WhatsApp is taking its video call features to the next level, rivalling other conference call platforms

WhatsApp is rolling out screen-sharing capabilities, enabling users to share their screens during calls. This can be useful for activities like watching videos, troubleshooting issues, or sharing content that is otherwise difficult to send. The feature also includes audio sharing for uninterrupted conversations while viewing shared screens.

WhatsApp has also increased the maximum number of participants in video calls from eight to 32. This new limit applies across all devices, making WhatsApp a more viable option for larger group calls and meetings.

That's not all, WhatsApp is also adding a 'spotlight' feature for the active speaker

To enhance the video call experience for larger groups, WhatsApp is introducing a "speaker spotlight" feature that automatically highlights the person speaking, making it easier to follow conversations.

Meanwhile, mobile device users will see improvements in noise and echo cancellation, ensuring clearer conversations in noisy settings.

Video calls will now offer higher resolution for those with faster Internet connections, and overall audio quality will be improved, even for users with older devices or poor network connectivity.

WhatsApp also said it is committed to improving the quality of calls moving forward

Aside from new features and audio quality, WhatsApp assured that it will continue to improve the app in the future.

"We'll continue making improvements to calling on WhatsApp so you can make the best quality, private calls wherever you are in the world," the company said on its official blog.
