Malim Nawar, a small town in Perak, may not be as well-known as Ipoh or Gopeng, but has its own hidden limestone treasures that locals cherish

This lesser-known gem, also referred to as Limestone Pinnacle Lake, features a dramatic landscape of rock formations that may be remnants from mining days.

As an off-the-beaten-path destination, it offers a serene escape amidst towering limestone pinnacles and a beautiful lake.

The area also features an abandoned football field and a large rock resembling a resting elephant.

Surrounded by lush greenery, the lake is dotted with clusters of what appear to be floating rocks — actually limestone formations eroded over time, creating a unique and picturesque scene

Speaking to SAYS, nature enthusiast Hazel Lee shared that she hopes this space can be preserved for its natural beauty, without being affected by tourists or overdeveloped.

In conjunction with Karst Awareness Month, Lee hopes that fellow nature lovers can enjoy the tranquility and beauty of this landscape, and that Jabatan Geologi and Geopark Lembah Kinta will gazette the area as a geopark to protect it from development.

Visitors have been spotted kayaking or paddleboarding on the lake. They are encouraged to responsibly enjoy the landscape without damaging it or leaving any trash behind.

Finding the Limestone Lake can be a bit of an adventure, as it's not well-marked

However, the short trek through the overgrown foliage is worth it for the stunning views that await.

Local travel website OTBP told SAYS that the lake is located behind a residential area and has no specific entrance.

Visitors are urged to respect the residents who live in the area by not entering their house compounds or blocking the roads.
