A pawsome feline has set a new Guinness World Record for the fastest 10m on a skateboard by a cat, sparking both amazement and amusement across the Internet

Hailing from Zhejiang, China, Bao Zi is an adorable and adventurous American Shorthair cat who set the record at just one year and eight months old, clocking 12.85 seconds in April.

This daring tabby loves to explore the outdoors independently. After showing a keen interest in skateboards, its owner, Li Jiangtao, decided to encourage this behaviour.

Li, who is also a seasoned pet trainer, regularly posts videos of Bao Zi's skateboarding escapades on his Douyin account, @滑板猫包子

Many netizens were obviously impressed by this purr-fectly poised prodigy in action

"It can also adjust the posture of its left and right legs to show off its coolness," one netizen praised.

But, one netizen said what most non-skateboarders are probably thinking, "Dogs can skateboard, now cats can too. But I can't."

"Wow, setting the bar high in the cat world," a netizen congratulated Li for the achievement, which he expressed his gratitude in return.

Bao Zi's extraordinary feat has both amused and left some cat parents feeling slightly insecure, prompting them to share hilarious reactions and stories about their own less-than-athletic cats

One user shared, "My cat is also named Bao Zi, but he's just not the same," while another quipped, "That good-for-nothing in my house doesn't even go out alone to play and hides under the cupboard when a stranger comes to the house."

Another netizen posted a hilarious drawing depicting a pet owner showing its cat the video of Bao Zi, to which the cat replies, "it's fake".

The wave of funny responses didn't stop there. Another cat parent shared a picture of their cat peacefully slumbering away, without a care in the world.

"Just look at him. And look at other people's cats," they commented.

"This is my cat's most impressive skill," another joked.

While that last cat stood tall and proud, one cat owner captured a picture of their cat sitting hunched over, as if it had given up on life.

"How do I also acquire this talent? I'm waiting online, and it's urgent," they wrote.

Off topic, but why do cats sit like that anyway?

Amid the laughs, this cat parent just accepts their baby for what they are.

"It's okay if it can't do anything. I still love it," they commented.
