It's not uncommon for many universities to have a resident mascot. It is, however, not often that you see them having actual pet representatives... with legitimate qualifications at that

A recent TikTok has been making waves online after one student posted a clip of a rather special cat with stellar academic achievements on his page.

Posted by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) student, Wan Shahmi, he shared a couple of photos of a cat wandering around his institution in Kulai. Not just any cat, this little fluff has his own name card and tag with a full description of his educational programme.

Named Che Chombi Che Choki, the kitty simply goes by Chombi. Expressly stated that he is a student of the Johor university, he is currently "studying" to attain the title of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) of Meow Language with Honours

According to the back of his card, he was issued his tag on 17 November 2022, and will officially complete his study in October 2026.

Thoroughly impressed by his qualifications, many Malaysians chimed in with their take on Chombi's residency at UTM Kulai

"Wow, he already has a PhD!" joked one user, while another stated that it is impressive how a three-year-old is already studying for his PhD.

"If a cat can be highly educated, his dowry after this will be super expensive," said another person.

Others even emphasised on the fact that his doctorate programme is with honours, elevating the importance of his potential achievement.

Some users complimented Chombi on being smart, while another user even said that he must be a mild-mannered cat.

"I hope my cat sees this and decides to become a little more hardworking. Now all he knows is to eat and sleep," said one user in a light-hearted manner.

All the best in your studies, Chombi! May you indeed graduate with honours.
