"Making More Than Humans" — Cat Influencer Reveals She Earned RM187,000 In A Year
Brb sending this TikTok to my cat.
From a shelter to the TikTok universe, Princess Honey Belle is a ginger rescue cat that's been making waves on the Internet for her less than subtle features and whiskers
Coming all the way from Melbourne, Australia, three-year-old Princess has been living a lavish life ever since her owner, Nicole Wade, started sharing videos of the feline on TikTok.
From rocking Louis Vuitton scarfs to donning pink dresses with heart-shaped sunglasses, nothing is stopping this kitten from taking over social media.
Some of her signature clips include Wade baking in the kitchen, with her furry sous-chef by her side to accompany these creations.
At the time of writing, Princess has about 170,000 followers on Instagram and 280,000 followers on TikTok
Despite her immense success, the public was recently given a sneak peek into how much this sassy kitty makes through just her deals and merchandise.
In a recent TikTok uploaded to Princess' account, Wade shared how much she made in the year 2022, and the numbers were staggering. Breaking down the total amount, in AUD, this is approximately how much she made:
January: AUD1,813
February: AUD2,513
March: AUD789
April: AUD7,351
May: AUD1,574
June: AUD6,806
July: AUD500
August: AUD15,093
September: AUD9,114
October: AUD5,000
November: AUD4,035
December: AUD7,787
In total, Princess earned AUD62,355 (approximately RM187,000) in 2022, before taxes and expenses.
In the caption of the post, Wade stated that her reason behind sharing this information was due to the importance of pay transparency, especially for creators on social media
Wade also mentioned that the income Princess received was primarily based on brand deals and merchandise sales, saying that they do not have access to TikTok's creator programme or any other bonuses.
"We also only work with brands and products that we really like or use ourselves, or think our audience would enjoy. This means we turn down the majority of deals, and usually only do an average of two advertisements per month," Wade explained.
"We are grateful to be in this position, to be able to choose which deals we do, and it took us many hours of hard work and investing in ourselves to get here. Here's to a bigger and better 2023, and to more transparency in the creator community," she concluded.
Receiving more than a million views and over 100,000 likes, many people were shocked to find out how much the cat influencer really made
A fair share of fellow cat owners took the opportunity to find out more information from Wade, jokingly adding how they'd like to make their own cats influencers too after seeing the amount Princess made in 2022.
"How does one become a cat influencer? I have 11 cats and I'm now thinking that it's time to put them to work," joked one user.
Another person straight up said that this was the sign to make her cats famous.
Multiple others couldn't help but joke around in the comments section, finding humour in Princess' success.
"Finally, a cat that pays rent," commented one user, while another seemingly added on to this by writing "Hold up, and my cats over here living rent free??"
While another user funnily wrote how they are currently rethinking all their life choices, another said that she's going to 'send' this video to her own cats.
"My cats just cost me money," added another TikTok user.
In an honest question of their personal setup, one user even asked Wade whether platforming Princess is her full-time job or if she has a side hustle — to which Wade revealed that this has been her primary job for more than two years.
"Been a full-time job since November 2020, and I absolutely put in the same hours (or more) as a full-time job!" Wade responded.
Nevertheless, a fair share of users also praised Wade for being transparent with how much Princess earned in 2022, saying that they more than deserve the success.
"I respect this transparency so much! May you have many more Augusts!" wrote one user, in reference to their most profitable month of the year.
Another user also praised Wade for making ethical choices when it came to deciding which companies they chose to work with, saying that it does take a lot of hours.
