2 Dead After Mercedes-Benz Carrying High School Grads Crashes Into Hyundai

Three other students involved in the accident are in stable condition.

Two high school graduates died after the Mercedes-Benz they were travelling in crashed into another car in Alor Setar, Kedah last night, 17 December

According to China Press, five Sekolah Menengah Keat Hwa graduates were in the Mercedes-Benz when it collided with a Hyundai Matrix, which was attempting a U-turn at Jalan Lencong Barat.

One of the victims was found on the roof of the Mercedes-Benz, while another was lying on the road. They were pronounced dead by emergency responders.

The New Straits Times reported that two other victims were severely injured, while the driver of the Hyundai sustained only minor injuries.

Witnesses recounted seeing the Mercedes-Benz flipping several times before ending up at the side of the road.

Jalan Raja Fire and Rescue Station operations commander Salim Abd Razak said special tools were used to extract the injured from the vehicle. They were later sent to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital.

The victims' high school principal said the survivors are in stable condition

"We are deeply saddened by the deaths of our two students. They had graduated in December and were about to spread their wings and start a new journey.

"Their passing is not only a huge loss to their families, but also brings deep sorrow to the school.

"On behalf of all the teachers and students, I would like to express my deepest condolences and sympathy to the families of the deceased," the statement read.
