Here's The Full List Of All The Places In Malaysia Where You Can No Longer Smoke Or Vape

Smoking and vaping have now been prohibited in numerous public spaces across Malaysia.

The ban is part of the Health Ministry's Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Act 2024, which came into effect on 1 October.

The new regulations outline various non-smoking zones, including a number of indoor and outdoor locations, with the aim of reducing exposure to secondhand smoke and promoting healthier environments.

The following is the comprehensive list of places where smoking and vaping are no longer permitted:

1. Healthcare-related areas
- Hospitals and clinics, including the surrounding land

2. Transportation hubs
- Public transport terminals
- The entirety of airports except designated smoking areas, such as certain rooms at KLIA and Penang International Airport
- Public vehicles, including school buses and other fare-paying transport services

3. Educational institutions
- Schools, kindergartens, and other places of learning
- Higher education institutions as defined by the Education Act 1996
- Nurseries

4. Entertainment and leisure facilities
- Entertainment centres (excluding casinos) and theatres
- Sports complexes, stadiums, fitness centres, and gymnasiums
- Rest and recreation (R&R) areas managed by the Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA)
- Public parks (excluding open car parks)
- Observation towers, camp sites, and canopy bridges within national or state parks

5. Government premises
- All government buildings
- The Parliament of Malaysia building

6. Public service areas
- Public service counters, such as those in offices, malls, or other public spaces
- Launderettes, regardless of whether they provide food or drink services
- Air-conditioned shops
- Shopping complexes
- Internet cafes
- Petrol stations

7. Religious and cultural spaces
- Places of worship, such as mosques, temples, and churches
- Libraries

8. Food and beverage establishments
- Eating places, including open-air areas within a three-metre radius of dining tables or chairs

9. Assembly and gathering areas
- Areas for public assemblies or activities, whether indoors or outdoors, excluding private residences

10. Workspaces
- Places of work as defined by the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994
- National service training centres

Specific smoking and vaping zones in airports

While most areas in airports are non-smoking, specific smoking zones have been designated at KLIA and Penang International Airport.

These include lounges, smoking rooms, and open smoking areas located at various levels of the airport terminals.
