In a heartwarming gesture, a school in Kuantan, Pahang, SJKC Kuang Hwa, recently went viral as teachers and staff organised a unique vacation-themed retirement ceremony for their principal

In the 42-second clip uploaded by TikTok user @rumah.kome, the school's hall can be seen decorated with ticket counters, 'check-in' signs, and security checkpoints, creating an airport-like atmosphere.

The school's teachers donned uniforms and paraded into the hall with luggage in tow, embracing the role of flight attendants.

The theme was chosen to resonate with the retiring principal's love for vacations

Students of the school also participated in the ceremony, conducting a pre-flight passenger safety briefing and distributing food on trolleys, reminiscent of an in-flight catering service.

The highlight of the event featured the retiring principal, Puan Gan, being sent on a whimsical 'skylift' adorned with colourful balloons for a gimmicky takeoff.

At the time of writing, the video has garnered over 518,000 views and 42,000 likes.

Netizens were impressed by the one-of-a-kind celebration and left supportive comments

"Finally, a school that's different from the others. They would usually just go for a wedding theme for [the principal's] retirement," commented one user.

Some also asked about the cost of the event.

"How much would retirement ceremonies [like this] usually cost? Did the teachers chip in?" asked a user.

"See, you don't have to hold events at hotels, just the school is enough. What matters is your creativity and ability to get funds," commented another.
