"Thank you for being there for me in the toughest of times."
Muar member of parliament (MP) Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has lost his beloved cat Toby, who passed away this morning, 28 February
Taking to his Twitter account to share the news, the former minister of youth and sports stated that it was a sudden loss.
"Toby, my beloved cat has left us. So sudden. So sad. I miss him so much. Thank you for being there for me in the toughest of times. May you rest well in 'Cat heaven'," he wrote.
Alongside the post were a few pictures of Saddiq with Toby, including a sweet image of the two lying on the floor together in the same pose.

Another Twitter user who could relate to Saddiq's emotions during this trying time spoke of her own personal circumstances, having lost her pet cat, too.
"My condolences. A pet is family. I've lost mine too. I'm so sorry for your loss. Rest well, Toby," she wrote.

Prior to the 15th General Election (GE15), Saddiq's cats made waves on the Internet, after the parliamentary member declared them as part of his RM1.9 million assets
In a conversation with reporters back in November 2022, Saddiq explained how important Toby and his other pet cat, Meow Meow, were to him.
"Since my cats are a gift from my brother and my friend from 2018 and 2019, I am going to declare them as my valuables because they are invaluable to me," he said.
Beyond that, Saddiq also runs a personalised Instagram page of his cats, having posted images of the two of them occasionally.
