The BYD YangWang U9 was recently launched with a price tag of 1.68 million yuan (RM1.12 million).
This all-electric supercar is built on the e4 platform and boasts BYD's Disus X suspension system, allowing it to perform unique manoeuvres such as driving on three wheels, jumping, or dancing. Equipped with four electric motors, the EV delivers a total output of 960kW (1287hp) and peak torque of 1,680Nm.

The U9, which stands for the Ultimate 9, boasts all-wheel drive (AWD) capability and can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 2.36 seconds.
According to BYD, the U9 does the 400-metre sprint in an impressive 9.78 seconds. The electric motor powering it can spin at a remarkable 21,000rpm. Unlike many other high-end cars, the U9 is equipped with BYD's lithium iron phosphate (LFP) Blade battery pack instead of the more common NCM chemistry battery.
The YangWang U9 boasts an official top speed of 309.19 km/h. This impressive performance was validated through testing on the renowned Shanghai International Circuit, where the car achieved an official lap time of two minutes and 17 seconds. For comparison, a BMW M5 lapped the same circuit in two minutes and 22 seconds.

The U9 is equipped with an 800V architecture, allowing it to charge from 30% to 80% in just 10 minutes. Additionally, the supercar supports dual charging, enabling users to plug in two independent charging cables simultaneously. This technology is not new for BYD, as it has previously been implemented in models such as the Denza D9 and N7.
It's not all about speed, as the U9 packs many bells and whistles

Similar to its predecessor, the U8, the U9 is capable of executing a tank turn manoeuvre. While it lacks lidar technology, the U9 features the DiPilot ADAS (advanced driver-assistance system), which includes an autonomous parking assistant.
With a lightweight body coefficient of 0.95 and impressive torsional rigidity measuring 54,425Nm, the U9 offers exceptional handling and stability. The rear spoiler generates up to 280kg of downforce, further enhancing its performance. Riding on 21-inch Pirelli P-Zero tyres, the U9 ensures optimal traction and grip.
