[REVIEW] Xiaomi Robot Vacuum X10+ Offers High-Tech Cleaning With A Few Bumps

Combining both vacuuming and mopping capabilities, the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum X10+ can handle daily cleaning without much manual intervention.

Priced at RM3,799, the robot can cleverly manoeuvre around obstacles in its way, thanks to Xiaomi's trademark S-Cross AI Advanced 3D obstacle recognition and avoidance system.

I recently had the opportunity to review the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum X10+ and discovered that despite its impressive features, the robot does have some shortcomings.

The station holds two water tanks for mopping and a dustbin for collecting dirt. 

The robot itself is the familiar round shape, with some noticeable upgrades like an AI visual sensor and stereo sensors to better identify obstacles.

The overall look is clean and modern, fitting well in any home. However, the key changes are under the hood, where this device promises to tackle both dust collection and mop washing with ease.

One of the most impressive features is the mapping technology. The X10+ uses an infrared laser scanner to quickly create a map of your home, allowing it to navigate efficiently and avoid unnecessary bumps.

Through the app, you can track the robot's cleaning path, set restricted zones, and even activate remote control for more precise cleaning.

There's no need to hover over it while it works, which adds to the overall convenience.

Still, for everyday use, it performs well. Unlike many other vacuums, the X10+ avoids bumping into obstacles and re-routing afterwards. Instead, it detects them in advance, which helps it clean more smoothly. However, there's a 5cm gap between the robot and the wall when it cleans, meaning some areas near the edges may be missed.

When it comes to sweeping, the 2000 Pa suction power handles daily cleaning like a pro. It effortlessly picks up things like breadcrumbs, seeds, hair, and dust, and even handles carpets without any issues. There's no need for excessive suction, which would only drain the battery faster.

It had no trouble dealing with coffee stains, ketchup, and curry stains in my tests.

That said, there are a few drawbacks. When using the stronger mopping mode, the robot tends to splash water, leaving behind water stains after drying. Also, after mopping larger wet areas, I occasionally noticed a sticky residue on the floor, especially with more significant spills. Due to this, I noticed the areas mopped sometimes had a lingering smell.

You'll also need to clean the bottom of the robot manually, as it tends to pick up grime during wet mopping, which the automatic cleaning feature doesn't fully handle.

After each cleaning session, the robot returns to its base station, empties the dustbin, and washes the mop. This automation is great in theory, but there are a few quirks.

For instance, the robot will often return to the base station to clean the mop during the cleaning process, which can feel a bit inefficient, especially when you're trying to cover large areas quickly. Additionally, the mop leaves behind stains on the base station after drying, so you'll need to clean this manually.

That said, the robot also features automatic water replenishment — when it detects that the mop needs more water, it automatically returns to the base station to fill up. This feature is a nice touch and reduces the need for you to intervene during a mopping session.

Its strong suction power, tangle-free design, and effective mopping make it a good choice for daily cleaning.

However, a few design quirks, like water splashing and the need for manual base station cleaning, may be frustrating for some users.

If you're after a high-tech robot vacuum that handles most of the cleaning without much effort, the X10+ is a strong contender — especially for those looking for value for money in the ever-growing robot vacuum market.
