Channels can be found under WhatsApp's new tab called Updates, where you'll find statuses and channels you choose to follow that are separate from your chats with family, friends, and communities.
Similar to Telegram, WhatsApp Channels is a way for users to receive important updates on people and organisations within WhatsApp itself.
You'll be able to find Channels on your hobbies, sports teams, updates from local officials, and more.
Channels are muted by default, however, users can manually unmute each channel if they wish to receive notifications.
Who you choose to follow is also up to you and is private.

If you're a channel admin, your phone number and profile photo won't be shown to followers. Likewise, following a channel won't reveal your phone number to the admin or other followers.
Channels will only store messages on WhatsApp for up to 30 days before being deleted.
If you want to explore Channels, make sure your WhatsApp is updated, open the app, click on 'Updates', and go to 'Find Channels'
You'll see a list of Channels you can join. It's essentially a private way to follow all the topics you care about and stay informed.
Users will be able to view updates on Channels before deciding if they want to follow them.
